Volleyball Knee Pads: Sizing Guide
Why Proper Fit Matters
Knee pads protect against impact during dives and slides. Ill-fitting pads shift during play, leaving knees exposed when you need protection most.
Measuring for Size
Measure leg circumference 4 inches above kneecap center. Compare to manufacturer chart. Between sizes: choose larger for comfort but ensure no sliding.
Pad Thickness
Thick (15-20mm): Maximum protection for liberos and defensive specialists. Thin (8-12mm): Greater mobility for setters and hitters. Some wear thick on dominant knee, thin on other.
Sleeve vs Strap
Sleeve: Slides on like sock, consistent positioning. Strap: Velcro closure, easy to adjust and remove. Strap closures may catch on jerseys.
Maintenance
- Wash after every 2-3 uses
- Air dry only — machine drying degrades foam
- Replace when foam compresses to half thickness
- Check stitching and elastic regularly
- Rotate between two pairs
