Basketball Court Dimensions: NBA, FIBA, College & High School Standards (2026)
NBA Court Dimensions
The standard NBA court is 94 feet long by 50 feet wide. The three-point line sits 23 feet 9 inches from the basket at the top of the arc and 22 feet at the corners. The free-throw line is 15 feet from the backboard.
College NCAA Court
NCAA courts share the same dimensions as the NBA, but the three-point line is closer at 22 feet 1.75 inches. The lane or key is 12 feet wide compared to the NBAs 16 feet. Womens college basketball uses the same court dimensions.
High School Courts
High school courts are shorter at 84 feet long by 50 feet wide. The three-point line is 19 feet 9 inches. The shorter length accommodates younger athletes and smaller gymnasium spaces common in schools.
FIBA International Court
FIBA courts measure 28m by 15m, slightly smaller than NBA courts. The three-point line is 6.75m from the basket. FIBA also uses a trapezoidal key shape, unlike the rectangular NBA key.
Hoop and Backboard
The rim is universally 10 feet above the floor across all levels. The backboard is 72 inches wide and 42 inches tall. The rim diameter is 18 inches. The small square on the backboard is 24 inches wide by 18 inches tall.
The Key or Paint Area
The NBA key is 16 feet wide, extending from the baseline to the free-throw line 15 feet away. The restricted area arc 4 feet from the basket center prevents defenders from drawing charges directly under the rim.
Building a Home Court
A full-size outdoor court requires a concrete slab of at least 94x50 feet plus 10 feet of runoff on all sides. Budget $25,000-60,000 for a quality installation including surface, hoops, fencing, and lighting. Half-courts cost roughly half.
