Essential Catcher Gear

Catchers face more physical risk than any other position. Proper gear is non-negotiable for youth players.

Hockey-style helmet with cage mask is now preferred for superior face and throat protection.

Required with traditional masks. A foul tip to the throat can be life-threatening.

Should cover from collarbone to below navel. Look for NOCSAE ND200 certification.

From top of knee to top of foot. Triple-knee design is standard for youth.

32-33 inch mitt with extra padding. Youth players should not use adult-size mitts.

Mandatory for all male catchers.
