Baseball Bat Sizing Chart: Length and Weight Guide
Why Bat Size Matters
A bat that is too heavy slows your swing and reduces contact quality. One that is too light sacrifices power. The right size maximizes both bat speed and barrel control.
Sizing by Age Group
- Tee Ball (ages 4-6): 24-26 inches, 13-15 oz
- Youth (ages 7-12): 26-30 inches, 16-22 oz
- High School (ages 13-16): 30-32 inches, 28-30 oz
- Adult/College (17+): 32-34 inches, 30-33 oz
Drop Weight Explained
Drop weight is the difference between bat length (inches) and weight (ounces). A 33-inch bat that weighs 30 oz has a drop of -3. Youth bats typically range from -10 to -7, while BBCOR bats are standardized at -3.
The Arm Test
Hold the bat parallel to the ground with your dominant arm fully extended. If you can hold it steady for 30 seconds without your arm shaking, the weight is manageable.
